We believe that Science provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, and our children will be taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. In delivering our Science curriculum, we will focus on embedding investigative and enquiry skills as well as building knowledge and creating awe and wonder at our world.
Our Science curriculum is based on the high-quality resources from Hamilton Trust; these are adapted to meet our children's needs and used alongside video resources from the Developing Experts website. These videos are made by people who work in STEM jobs so children learn about the possibilities and careers that may be linked with their scientific studies; we believe this will result in children having a greater understanding of what they can achieve and therefore raising their aspirations for the future.
This document shows how children's Scientific Enquiry skills progress through Key Stage 2.
Here are some examples of our knowledge organisers. These documents are used by teachers to help them plan in detail the key knowledge children will learn about different aspects of science in each Year Group.
