Music

We value music in school because we know 'Music connects us through people and places in our ever-changing world. It is creative, collaborative, celebratory and challenging.' (Model Music Curriculum: Key Stages 1 to 2, 2021)  

Our Music Curriculum has been designed to enable children to understand musical concepts across different genres and to contribute to the development of children's cultural capital.  We have used the Model Music Curriculum in combination with Charanga and BBC Ten Pieces to help develop our own unique Delves Federation Music Curriculum. Learning about the same musical concept through different musical activities enables a more secure, deeper learning and mastery of musical skills as children progress through Key Stage 2.  Children also learn about the possibilities and careers that may be linked with their musical  studies.  Our Music Curriculum is delivered by our specialist Music teacher.

Here are our knowledge organisers for Music.  These documents are used by teachers to ensure there is a clear development of the key knowledge children will learn about different aspects of music in each Year Group.  

We are proud of our Music Lodge!  This is a great space where children have their music lessons; music therapy also takes place in here.  See what you think!
