School Council

Junior Leaders

Our Junior Leaders are responsible, positive role‑model pupils who help make our school a welcoming and well‑organised place to learn. They promote our school values, support staff and younger pupils, and help ensure that everyone feels included and respected.

Junior Leaders assist with whole‑school events, help lead Values assemblies, support behaviour expectations, and set a good example around school by showing kindness, responsibility and respect. They also listen to pupil voice, share ideas for improving school life, and encourage others to follow our school rules. Through their leadership, they help strengthen our school community and contribute to a happy, successful learning environment.

Well Being Warriors

The Well Being Warriors at Delves Junior School comprises of our Mental Health Ambassadors, Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and Safe Surfers.  They are an integral part of our school community.  Take a look at the initiatives that they have led to improve school life, promote values and support others.

Mental Health Ambassadors

At our school, our Mental Health Ambassadors are trained pupils who help promote positive wellbeing across the school.  Their role is to encourage kindness, support classmates, and help create a safe, caring environment where everyone feels valued.  Ambassadors listen to others, model positive behaviour, and help signpost friends to a trusted adult if someone needs extra support.  They also take part in wellbeing activities, assemblies, and initiatives that strengthen our whole‑school approach to mental health.

Our Ambassadors have been busy creating front covers for keyrings, which feature helpful breathing techniques. These keyrings will be great to clip onto pencil cases!  They also supported with the promotion of Children's Mental Health Week.

Safe Surfers

Our Safe Surfers are trained pupil leaders who help promote online safety across the school. They encourage responsible use of technology, support digital wellbeing, and remind others how to stay safe and kind online. Safe Surfers help with e‑safety events, share important online safety messages, and model positive digital behaviour. They also encourage pupils to speak to a trusted adult if they ever feel worried or unsure about something they see online.

The Safe Surfers have been busy working with Rachel from Street Teams talking about all things internet safety! They have received important training for their role. They have also been creating presentations that they will be delivering to the whole school.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are trained pupil leaders.  They promote kindness and respect support positive friendships, and look out for children who may need help or someone to talk to. The ambassadors help lead anti‑bullying campaigns, support playground inclusion, and encourage pupils to speak to a trusted adult if they have any worries. Their role is an important part of our whole‑school commitment to preventing bullying and ensuring all children feel happy and safe at school.

The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors had a great day at the Dianna Awards completing their Anti-bullying training. They learnt about their role and what makes an Anti-Bullying Ambassador, as well as signs to look out for on the playground if a child is targeted by bullying behaviour.

If anybody needs a friend to talk to, they can be found in Yellow 2 from 12.30 at lunch.

Health & Safety Ambassadors

We currently have two Health and Safety Ambassadors who are working really well as a team.

They carry out inspections both internally and externally on a weekly basis.  During their weekly inspections they assist in the effort to support school safety by identifying potential safety issues around school and record them.

Each week we discuss their findings and then inform Mr Davis (Site Manager) of issues that need to be addressed.

A*Stars

A*STARS (Active Sustainable Travel and Road Safety) is a Walsall initiative that supports our school in promoting safer, healthier and more sustainable travel. Through a range of activities, training and events, the programme encourages children to walk, cycle or scoot to school safely, while helping to reduce congestion and improve the environment around our school.

Pupils learn important road safety skills through age‑appropriate sessions such as pedestrian training, scooter and bike skills, safety walks and class‑based activities. These help children understand how to stay safe on roads and paths.

At Delves, we have A*STARS Sheriffs, who help lead campaigns, run assemblies and promote safe, active travel across the school community.

Nature Explorer Challenge: 15 Things To Do in Walsall.

The QR code below will lead you to the landing page, which you can easily access from the QR code.

Encourage your child to explore and complete the activities listed in the leaflet. As children tick off each activity, they’ll be building healthy habits, developing confidence, and engaging more closely with their community.

Spending time outdoors helps children develop curiosity, confidence, and a love of nature. The activities below encourage exploration, creativity, and family time while supporting children’s physical and emotional wellbeing.

Once they have completed the leaflet, they should return it to school by 30th June 2026 for a chance to be entered into a prize draw. Each school will select one winner from Key Stage 1 (KS1) and one winner from Key Stage 2 (KS2) from the submissions that have completed the majority of the ‘15 Things To Do’, and winners will be given a goodie bag - plus their names will be sent to us so they can be entered into the grand prize draw.

We believe this campaign will be a fun and engaging way for children to connect with nature and learn more about the beautiful surroundings of Walsall.

Eco Crew

We have joined the Asthma and Lung UK 'Clean Air Champions Project. The Eco Crew have placed pollution monitors around the Junior and Infant School grounds. The monitors will be left in place for four weeks, after which they will be returned to  Asthma and Lung UK for testing. We will they receive the results showing the amount of pollution around our school. This information can also be passed on to Walsall Council if measures need to be put in place to reduce pollution.
