Computing
Our computing curriculum ensures all children receive comprehensive teaching aligned with the National Curriculum for Computing, Technology and Digital Competence.
Children are exposed to a wide variety of digital tools, technological skills, and innovations, enabling our pupils to use technology effectively and safely outside the classroom. At Delves, we know that teaching computing and digital skills is vital if children are to be able to participate effectively and safely in our modern world.
We teach a curriculum that enables children to become effective users of technology who can:
Our computing curriculum supports a curiosity for technology, enabling all children to develop and acquire a range of progressive knowledge, skills and rich vocabulary. Our use of Purple Mash has been designed to promote a broad experience and support all staff through the use of built-in and live CPD opportunities.

Online Safety
Delves Junior School takes online safety extremely seriously. We have an Online Safety Policy that provides guidance for teachers and children about how to use the internet safely.
Our Computing and PSHE lessons in school enable children to learn the safe use of technology and the internet, allowing them to think about how they can keep themselves and others safe, being mindful of how their behaviour, words and actions can affect others. Internet safety is threaded through units, individual lessons and celebrated on Internet safety days.
In addition to pre-planned online safety sessions (through PSHE), we understand the importance of a curriculum that is able to 'flex' to the needs of the children sat in front of us. At the start of each half term, global knowledge is assessed collectively for each class. This information is used to prioritise online teaching strands, in line with the UK Council for Internet Safety's (UKCIS) framework “Education for a Connected World,” linked to these 8 strands:
With the use of the Evolve toolkit, we provide the right opportunity for discussion; prompted by appropriate questions accompanied by honest and useful information to shape thinking and challenge misconceptions.
Online safety messages 'evolve' throughout their time at Delves. Children are taught something more appropriate; more meaningful; that encourages reflection; that generates positive outcomes.
