Our fabulous trip to Jaguar Land Rover.
On Tuesday 4th February, Red 1 went to the Jaguar Land Rover factory in Birmingham (Castle Bromwich). Visiting there, we hoped to find out about how cars are designed and built in order to help us with our design and technology lessons.
We went on a guided tour of the F type Jaguar production factory. Seeing all the robots working together to build the cars was fascinating. We also took part in a prototype workshop. We were given a box of Lego and an example car, which we then had to build ourselves so that it was exactly the same. In addition to this, we then had a competition to see which group could build ten identical cars in the quickest time. Teamwork, communication and resilience were important skills that we had to apply.
Lastly, we went to see the fire engine and got to sit in the emergency vehicle, finding out all about the different hoses and equipment.
By the end of the trip we had found out lots about car design and construction. Certainly, the most memorable fact was that the Prime Minister's Jaguar car cost £250,000. Wow!
